Carnegie Mellon University’s department of Mechanical Engineering is searching for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to join their team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in an interesting and challenging work environment. In collaboration with CMU students and clinicians from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, you will provide support in the study of natural environment biomechanics in healthy people and patients with knee osteoarthritis and/or ones recovering from ACL reconstruction surgery.
Your core responsibilities will include:
Performing gait analysis experiments in the laboratory and natural environments.
Processing and analyzing data, including helping establish new algorithms and pipelines for data analysis as required by funding sources.
Performing biomechanics simulations.
Helping train and supervise junior students, as well as assisting with writing ethics board protocols.
Coordinating visits and data collection as needed with human subjects.
Attending meetings and communicating findings on a regular basis to mentor, research group, and collaborators.
Ordering supplies as needed.
Debugging equipment and code failure as needed to move the project forward, including communication with vendors (e.g., SageMotion, Bertec, OptiTrack).
Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Minimum level of prior work experience required.
A background in one or more of the following areas; experimental biomechanics, biomechanical modeling, wearable sensing, deep learning, computer vision, medical imaging.
