Job Description:
The postdoctoral fellow will perform research on Staphylococcus aureus at the host-pathogen interface. Research will focus on the role of antimicrobial post translational modifications on S. aureus pathogenesis. During the course of the postdoctoral fellowship, the successful candidate will perform all necessary experiments to drive the project forward, including both in vitro and in vivo experiments, present the project at scientific conferences, and publish the findings in reputable scientific journals in a timely manner. The candidate will also assist in the development of an independent research program in preparation for applying to academic faculty positions.

85% - Perform research into the pathogenesis of Staphylococcus aureus including assisting in the developing of an independent research program that will be competitive with peers for academic faculty positions in the future. Perform all necessary experiments to drive the project forward, including both in vitro and in vivo experiments, present the project at scientific conferences, and publish the findings in reputable scientific journals in a timely manner.
10% - Provide mentorship to junior trainees in the laboratory including teaching them scientific techniques, giving feedback on written communication, and giving feedback on oral communication.
5% - Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Ph.D. in Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Structural biology, Biological Sciences or related fields
Preferred Qualifications:
Peer-review publication, Presentation at national and international conferences, Ability to work well both independently and as a team, Molecular and cellular biology techniques, Recombinant protein expression and purification Protein engineering, microscopy, Manuscript preparation, oral dissemination of scientific findings .
Special and Physical Qualifications:
Required to be capable of lifting up to 50 pounds, sitting, walking, standing, bending, reaching above the shoulder, reaching below the shoulder, vision near sight, vision far sight, pushing/pulling, and grasping.
