About This Opportunity 

This is an exciting opportunity for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow (Level A) and Research Fellow (Level B) to engage in research in a vibrant multidisciplinary team in the field of Developmental Science. The team is led by ARC Laureate Professor Karen Thorpe with a strong focus on the impacts of early life experiences of life course trajectories of health, education and social inclusion. A particular remit is examining strategies to disrupt cycles of disadvantage as an active group within the ARC Centre of Excellence for children and families across the Life Course (Life Course centre).

The team has a strong commitment to grow the research profile of early and mid career researchers to achieve national recognition – supporting engagement with industry and research fellowships. At this level it is expected that you will efficiently manage service and engagement roles and activities.

Key responsibilities will include: 

Level A: Postdoctoral Research Fellow and Level B: Research Fellow

These are both full-time (100%), fixed-term positions for up to 3 years.

At Academic level A. The full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $77,324.85 - $102,945.12, plus a generous super allowance of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be up to $90,470.08 - $120,445.79 annually.

At Academic level B. The full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $108,201.26 - $128,201.75, plus a generous super allowance of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be up to $126,595.47 - $149,996.05 annually.

As these roles are covered by an Enterprise Agreement, you will also receive regular remuneration increases in line with the Enterprise Agreement.

About You  

Level A: Postdoctoral Research Fellow

  • A PhD in psychology, developmental psychology, or allied health – noting current focus projects include work in food insecurity and language development

  • Experience and demonstrated ability in the management of scientific data

  • An emerging profile in research in developmental science

  • Evidence of publications in reputed refereed journals and conference presentations

  • Evidence of contributions towards successfully obtaining external research funding

  • Some experience in meaningful internal service roles in conjunction with active contributions to external activities.

Level B: Research Fellow

  • A PhD in psychology, developmental psychology, or allied health – noting current focus projects include work in ECEC

  • Experience and demonstrated ability in the management of scientific data

  • A growing profile in research in developmental science

  • A developing reputation and track record of publications in reputed refereed journals and conference presentations

  • Evidence of successfully seeking, obtaining, and managing external research funding

  • A growing record of supervision of Honours and Research Higher Degree students to successful completion

  • Experience in meaningful internal service roles in conjunction with active contributions to external activities.
