Job Description:
We are seeking a Senior Postdoctoral researcher who will support the Quantum Heterostructures and Device Physics Lab in the Department of Physics & Astronomy at Louisiana State University (LSU). The candidate will conduct research related to epitaxial growth of oxide thin films and heterostructures; perform in-situ x-ray photoemission spectroscopy (XPS) and angle resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES), including synchrotron-based x-ray photoemission experiments. The candidate will also contribute in the measurements and development new nanoscale devices based on these thin films. The candidate will plan and make measurements of their electronic and/or magnetic properties. The goal of this project is to unravel unique electronic/magnetic properties generated by interfaces and superlattice-type structures and to explore their potential for novel nanoscale devices.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the Epitaxial growth of oxide thin films and heterostructures using a CO2-laser equipped substate heating pulsed laser deposition (PLD) system;
- Systematic characterizations using several in-situ characterization tools: x-ray photoemission spectroscopy (XPS) and angle resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES);
- Lead the synchrontron beamtime experiments at local, national and international synchrotron lightsource;
- Write scientific manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals;
- Prepare and present posters and/or talks at scientific conferences;
- Write beamtime proposals for synchrotron-based x-ray photoemission experiments;
- Supervise undergraduate and graduate students.
Minimum qualifications: Ph.D. in physics or related field with three years of related work experience.
Preferred qualifications: At least three year in doing epitaxial growth of thin films with CO2-laser equipped Pulse Laser Deposition (PLD) system. At least three year in doing in-situ XPS and ARPES measurement of thin film samples. Experience in device fabrications in a cleanroom environment and quantum transport measurements.
