Postdoctoral Appointee - Nuclear Theory for Neutrino Physics (argonne)
Job posting number: #130573 (Ref:418594)
This Job Posting is Expired.
Job Description
The postdoctoral appointee will collaborate with Dr. Alessandro Lovato (PHY Theory) and Dr. Noemi Rocco (Scientist in the FNAL Theory group) to develop accurate numerical frameworks for computing model lepton-nucleus scattering cross sections with quantified uncertainties. Particular emphasis will be placed on developing nuclear models that capture the majority of nuclear correlations and quantum mechanical effects, while keeping the kinematics of the scattering fully relativistic. The postdoctoral candidate is also expected to promptly implement these theoretical developments in neutrino event generators, including GENIE and ACHILLES.
Position Requirements
- A PhD in physics or similar discipline
- A background spanning both nuclear quantum many-body theory and high-energy physics, with particular emphasis on neutrino physics, is required.
- Prior knowledge of neutrino Monte Carlo event generators, including ACHILLES and GENIE.
- Computational skills are essential for this position, specifically a deep knowledge of Python, Fortran, and C++, as well as the ability to run simulations on parallel computers. JOB IS FROM: postdocjobs.oneVIEW
- Ability to model Argonne’s core values of impact, safety, respect, integrity, and teamwork.
