In Carnegie Mellon University’s Department of Mechanical Engineering, faculty members, researchers, and students are revolutionizing focus areas in advanced manufacturing, bioengineering, computational engineering, energy and the environment, product design, and robotics. In addition, they are using their expertise in interdisciplinary research centers across the university.

Carnegie Mellon University’s department of Mechanical Engineering is searching for a Postdoctoral Research Associate. This is a dynamic opportunity for someone who thrives in an interesting and challenging work environment. You will contribute to the department by providing essential support by carrying out advanced independent and/or directed research to achieve the objectives of the research project.

Your core responsibilities will include:

  • Collecting and analyzing data, including periodical/literature search, and utilizing specialized skills in related field to analyze the collected data.

  • Conducting research experiments within the predetermined research scope and methodology of department and university.

  • Participating/assisting in manuscript writing for publication in scientific journals and/or presentations. May also assist in grant writing.

  • Lab maintenance, including equipment maintenance and ordering of supplies may be required depending on area and specialty.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Doctorate degree (required)

  • 3-5 years of research experience
