JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
The College of Engineering, Graduate Program in Acoustics at The Pennsylvania State University is seeking a Postdoctoral Scholar to work under the direction of Interim Director and James F. Will Professor, Dr. Juli Simon.
The position requires a PhD in Acoustics, Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Physics, or a closely related field by the appointment date.
The Postdoctoral Scholar will primarily conduct research in focused ultrasound treatments for tendinopathies, including development of fibrous hydrogels and treatment monitoring technologies. They will also be expected to help conduct a swine study on treatment of tendinopathies and mentor students involved in the research studies.
Preferred candidates should have experience in working with in vivo animals, programming the Verasonics research ultrasound system, focused ultrasound, and mentoring students.
The successful candidate will play a critical role in maintaining ongoing research while Dr. Simon is Interim director of the program. As such, they will also work on writing research proposals and publishing results. Good communication, teamwork, and leadership skills are required to work in a collaborative, diverse, and inclusive environment.
Additional Information:
This is a term appointment, funded for one year from the date of hire, with a possibility of renewal.
