JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
The Penn State College of Medicine, The Departments of Medicine and Microbiology & Immunology, in Hershey, PA is seek an exceptional candidate to pursue postdoctoral studies in the area of retrovirology and virus-cell interactions. This project focuses on understanding the molecular and biophysical underpinnings of retrovirus genomic RNA packaging, virus particle assembly, and the potential role of host factors in retrovirus replication. The successful candidate will demonstrate scientific curiosity and creativity, a strong work ethic, and show strong potential for independent investigation. Applicants should possess a recent Ph.D., M.D., or M.D./Ph.D. in biology, virology, biophysics, molecular biology, biochemistry, genetics, or related fields.
The ideal candidate will have strong laboratory experience in areas including virology, advanced imaging, biophysical approaches, intracellular trafficking, cell and molecular biology, and data analysis. Successful candidates will have a strong track record of publication and will be expected to develop an innovative research project, perform high quality experiments with data analysis, contribute to the writing of manuscripts and grant applications, and demonstrate proficiency in English speaking and writing. The candidate will be joining a strong team led by Dr. Leslie Parent, Professor of Medicine and Microbiology & Immunology, and Vice Dean for Research and Graduate Studies. The Penn State College of Medicine, located in Hershey, PA provides an exceptional training environment for young scientists, including an active postdoctoral society.
