- Base Salary $105K $116K + 17% superannuation
About the opportunity
The School of Biomedical Engineering was established in 2019 to facilitate collaborative research excellence in the field of biomedical engineering. Through our academic staff and students, our research will aim to serve the public as a thought-leader and provide innovative technology for industry, hospitals, governments and the wider community.
We are currently seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Flexible Biosensor and Bioelectronics
to join the team and contribute to innovative research within the School.
As the Postdoctoral Research Associate you will be responsible for conducting research related to soft wearable bioelectronics. This position may involve the design/synthesis of novel soft biosensors, cell/tissue cultures and PCB assembly. Additional expertise in machine learning is a plus.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
- conduct research related to soft biosensors using nanomaterials and produce or contribute to the production of high-impact publications and patents
- conduct research in electronics design, and wireless prototyping devices
- mentor junior researchers
- attendance at meetings associated with research or the work of the organisational unit to which the research is connected and/or at departmental, school and/or faculty meetings and/or membership of a limited number of committees
- involvement in professional activities including, subject to availability of funds, attendance at conferences and seminars in the field of expertise
- development of a limited amount of research-related material for teaching or other purposes with appropriate guidance from other staff
- occasional contributions to teaching in relation to their research project(s)
- advice within the field of the staff member's research to postgraduate students.
About you

- a doctoral qualification in chemistry, materials science, bioengineering (or near completion), with a research background in cell/tissue engineering and its interface with bioelectronic sensors
- research experience in flexible bioelectronic devices is highly preferred
- a strong background in the highly interdisciplinary field of biosensors and bioelectronics
- a strong knowledge in wearable medical devices, biosensors and mobile-health systems
- demonstrated analytical and manuscript preparation skills; including a track record of refereed research publications and patents
- ability to solve complex problems by using discretion, innovation and the exercise diagnostic skills and/or expertise
- well-developed planning and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise multiple tasks and set and meet deadlines.
