Job Description

Job Duties

  • Conduct fungal fermentation ( Monascus) experiments to develop bioactive compounds.
  • Collaborate with industry partners in pharmaceutical and food R&D sectors.
  • Screen and characterize new probiotic strains for functional applications.

  • Perform microbiome analysis to support research objectives.
  • Develop and optimize microbial production of functional materials.
  • Operate and maintain analytical instruments, including HPLC and GC, for compound analysis.
  • Prepare research reports, presentations, and manuscripts for publication.
  • Mentor undergraduate/graduate students and contribute to a collaborative lab environment.
  • Other duties as assigned

Equipment Usage

  • Laboratory Equipment for Fermentation -Bioreactor/Fermenter -Incubators (e.g., for fungal and probiotic cultures)
  • Analytical Instruments -High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) -Gas Chromatography (GC)
  • Microbiological Tools -Autoclave -Laminar Flow Hood -Microscopes (for strain analysis -ELISA Machine
  • General Computing, Data Analysis, STAT analysis and Documentation -Computer

Required Education

  • Ph.D. in Food and Nutrition, Food Science and Technology, or a related field.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience with molecular analysis of gene expression, mouse/rodent colony management, Histochemistry
  • Prior industry experience in pharmaceutical or food R&D sectors.

Required Special Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Good communication and computer skills
  • Ability to multi task and work cooperatively with others
