Highly motivated full-time Postdoctoral Research Associate with an interest in environmental biotechnology, biochar technology, waste-derived biofuels and bioproducts, advanced water treatment/reuse, advanced materials for environmental remediation.
Successful candidates should have knowledge in one or more of the following areas:
Job Duties
Conduct research in environmental biotechnology focusing on biochar technology for wastewater treatment, runoff water treatment, anaerobic digestion, and greenhouse gas control.
Develop and apply novel water treatment technologies aimed at removing emerging contaminants and pathogens.
Investigate and optimize microbial and algal biofuels and bioproducts, including exploring innovative bioprocessing methods.
Explore the development and application of advanced materials for environmental applications, such as sensors, adsorbents, or catalysts
Coordinate research activities with a multidisciplinary team of collaborators, including university faculty, industry partners, and external research institutions.
Foster strong relationships with collaborators to ensure seamless communication, sharing of data, and integration of research objectives.
Organize regular team meetings and workshops to discuss research progress.
Collect, analyze, and interpret scientific data.
Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations on research findings at scientific conferences, seminars, and meetings with collaborators and funding agencies.
Prepare manuscripts for submission to peer-reviewed journals.
Assist in the preparation and submission of grant proposals.
Supervise laboratory technicians, undergraduate, and graduate students.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Ph.D. in environmental engineering science, chemical engineering, biological engineering, agricultural engineering, microbiology, biochemistry, and molecular biology.
Experience with water treatment, biofuel and bioproducts, emerging contaminants, and advanced materials.
Strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals.
Excellent interpersonal communication skills and ability to establish effective working relationships.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in analytical instruments (i.e., LC/MS, HPLC, GC, ICP, IC, XRD, SEM/EDX, XPS)
Experience in analysis of nutrients, antibiotics and microbial pathogens from soil, water, and plant
Experience in molecular techniques including qPCR and 16S microbial community analysis
Experience in statistical analysis and design of experiments
