JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
The Ferrari Lab at Penn State is seeking a Postdoctoral Scholar to work on surveillance and control of vaccine preventable diseases in humans and livestock. This work will primarily focus on the development of models and evaluation of surveillance strategies to monitor and respond to outbreaks in humans (measles) and livestock (foot-and-mouth disease) in low- and middle-income settings. The successful applicants will be motivated by both biological and epidemiological questions and have a strong desire to work at the science-policy interface. The successful candidate will develop independent research and contribute to a multi-institution project on capacity building and digital infrastructure development for livestock disease modeling in India.
Education and Experience:
The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D. in a relevant field (such as biology, epidemiology, statistics, computer science, public health, veterinary health), and a history of productivity.
Experience with statistical analysis of real-world data, simulation models, and development of reproducible analytical code in one or more of R, Python, Julia.
Experience in developing manuscripts for peer-reviewed publications and technical reports for operational and policy audiences is strongly recommended.
Proficiency with verbal communication to technical and non-technical audiences is an advantage.
