Job Description
Position Summary
The Alexander-Brett lab in the Department of Medicine, Division of Pulmonary/Critical Care is seeking a postdoctoral research fellow. We are a basic-translational research lab studying mechanism in airway diseases including COPD, asthma, cystic fibrosis and chronic lung transplant rejection. Our lab is interested in novel forms of respiratory mucosal signaling via airway epithelial derived cytokines and extracellular vesicles (EV). We conduct multidisciplinary research that includes mouse models of airway disease, epithelial and immune cell biology, biochemistry/protein engineering and multi-omics analyses of human airway disease. Eligible candidates may have backgrounds in multiple areas including: biochemistry and structural biology, molecular and cellular immunology, extracellular vesicle biology, animal models and human clinical studies.Training opportunities for this position may include (depending on area of interest and experience): multi-omics analysis of human biospecimens (RNA-seq, proteomics, spatial transcriptomics); functional and immune profiling of allergen and virus-induced models of airway disease, development of novel antibody-based assays; protein engineering, design and expression/purification from bacterial or mammalian systems; EV characterization and functional assays, fluorescence microscopy, CryoEM methods.

Working Conditions
This position works in a laboratory environment with potential exposure to biological and chemical hazards. The individual must be physically able to wear protective equipment and to provide standard care to research animals.
Salary Range
Base pay is commensurate with experience.
