Arts and Sciences | AstronomyThe Post Doctoral Scholar will carry out a vigorous program of research of their own design, working independently and/or in collaboration with Ohio State faculty. Researchers in all areas of theoretical and observational astronomy will be considered. Current research interests at Ohio State include active galactic nuclei, cosmology and large-scale structure, exoplanets, Galactic chemical evolution and structure, gravitational lensing (micro and macro), instrumentation, the interstellar, circumstellar, and intergalactic medium, star formation and feedback, stellar structure, supernovae and time domain astrophysics, and others. Observational facilities include a 1/6 share of the Large Binocular Telescope (LBT), ¼ share of the MDM Observatory, and membership in SDSS, ASAS-SN, DESI, and other projects. Post Doctoral Scholars may be PIs on observing proposals, and there is no limit on the number of proposals. Computational facilities include a departmental cluster and access to the Ohio Supercomputing Center. The department has an active instrumentation lab and strong ties to the Ohio State Physics Department through the Center for Cosmology and AstroParticle Physics (CCAPP). We seek candidates who will contribute to and benefit from the highly interactive environment of Ohio State Astronomy.
Qualifications:
PhD in Astronomy, Astrophysics, or related area STEM degree required by time of hire.

The Department of Astronomy, within the College of Arts and Sciences, seeks a Post Doctoral Scholar to join our team. The target hiring range is $63,000-$67,500. The actual salary will be within this range based on the candidate's qualifications, the unit's budget and internal equity.
