Job Summary:
This position is for a Postdoctoral Researcher to perform materials science research. The duties for the position are to conduct polymer science research, perform ceramic synthesis experiments, characterize materials using advanced electron microscopy techniques, and broadly contribute to other materials science and engineering projects. In addition, the position involves mentoring undergraduate and graduate students, interacting with research staff in the Center for Advanced Materials and Devices (CAMD), co-author peer-reviewed journal publications, presenting results at scientific conferences, and helping prepare research proposals to obtain internal and/or external funding.
Job Responsibilities:
25% Conduct degradation mechanisms of polymeric materials
35% Perform electron microscopy characterization
20% Assist ceramic synthesis and microstructure characterization
10% Co-author peer reviewed journal applications
5% Present results at scientific conferences
5% Mentor undergraduate and graduate students. Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Ph.D.; Successfully obtained at least an MS related to materials science, mechanical engineering, or chemical engineering.
Preferred Qualifications:
Successfully obtained a Ph.D. related to polymer science, materials science, and/or advanced electron microscopy characterization.
