Contribute to the Intelligent System for Integrating Global Human & Animal Health Technology (INSIGHT) Computer Vision (CV) project. This initiative integrates spectroscopy, computer vision, and artificial intelligence to analyze beef fat composition and its implications for human health and environmental sustainability. The postdoctoral researcher will lead efforts to develop and validate CV algorithms, integrate spectroscopy data, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to create predictive models for beef quality assessment.

- Develop, test, and optimize CV algorithms for beef fat composition analysis;
- Integrate spectroscopy data (MIRS and NIRS) with CV models to predict fatty acid profiles and methane emissions;
- Conduct data collection, preprocessing, and model validation for beef quality metrics;
- Publish findings in peer-reviewed journals and present outcomes at conferences;
- Mentor graduate and undergraduate students working on spectroscopy, CV, and AI systems;
- Collaborate with feedyard partners and other stakeholders to implement real-world applications of the INSIGHT CV system.
Major duties:
- Design and conduct experiments to measure methane emissions, collect spectroscopy data, and analyze beef samples;
- Build databases from feedyard trials and laboratory analyses;
- Implement deep learning algorithms for image analysis and integrate them with spectroscopy data;
- Coordinate with the INSIGHT team to prepare project deliverables, including system documentation and manuscripts;
- Travel to feedyards and field sites for data collection and collaboration.

Required Education and Experience.
- PhD in computer vision, animal science, nutrition, or a related field.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities.
- Proficiency in CV techniques, spectroscopy data analysis, and machine learning models;
- Solid computational and analytical skills, with experience in large-scale datasets;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- Proven publication record in relevant fields;
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.;
- Expected to be proactive, highly organized, responsible individuals with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to multi task and work cooperatively with others.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Expertise in spectroscopy, image processing, and programming languages such as Python or R. Experience with deep learning frameworks and AI applications in agriculture or food science.
