Job Summary: The Post Doctoral Associate is involved in the highest level of training at LIBR and is designed to advance their knowledge and research experience while supporting the research endeavors of LIBR under the mentorship of a LIBR faculty member.

Minimum Education: Ph.D. Degree, or confirmation that all degree requirements have been met and Ph.D. is pending, in appropriate scientific area. In some cases, an M.D. Degree may be substituted. High quality of academic performance, as evidenced by transcripts, publications, and reports from academic advisors.

Licensure, Registration and/or Certification: None.

Work Experience: No previous experience is required but education requirements must be met.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Ability to generate and implement original ideas and solutions that contribute materially to the success and development of the lab's research. Strong computer skills; excellent interpersonal, planning, organization, and verbal and written communication skills. Ability to think independently and work cooperatively with all levels of institute researchers. Ability to work in close collaboration with supervising faculty member.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities: 1. Conduct research in areas that are the focus of the faculty member and his/her laboratory and contribute substantially to the research progress of the lab. 2. Receive training in specific areas to continue development of personal technical knowledge and research expertise. 3. Under guidance from faculty supervisor, develop, design, and implement independent research projects or major parts thereof. Collect and critically analyze data. 4. May work with research subjects and with graduate students in the lab, depending on the focus of each lab 5. Prepare papers, reports, and presentations describing research process and results. Publish papers in nationally recognized journals and make presentations at nationally recognized conferences. 6. Attend and participate in institutional programs, seminars, and lectures. 7. Progress towards an independent career. Encouraged to seek outside training support.

Decision Making: Independent judgment in making decisions involving non-routine problems under general supervision.

Working Relationships: Leads others in same work performed (does not supervise). Works directly with patients and/or customers. Works with internal customers via telephone or face to face interaction. Works with external customers via telephone or face to face interaction. Works with other healthcare professionals and staff.
