The Tepper School of Business is home to many programs and research programs that cross disciplines. We approach scientific problems from fresh angles using creative interdisciplinary approaches while drawing on our strengths in the core social sciences. Tepper faculty members are nationally and internationally recognized for their research in a variety of fields, including organizational behavior and theory, economics, finance, and accounting.
Carnegie Mellon University’s Tepper School of Business is searching for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to join their team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in an interesting and challenging work environment.
Core responsibilities include:
Research in the design of approximation algorithms for network design problems
Formulation of NP-hard problems in network design as tractable mathematical programs and designing methods for using the solutions to find approximate solutions
Investigating the performance of new approximation algorithms on synthetic and actual data
Participate in writing up the results and submission for scientific publication
Collaborate with and mentor doctoral students engaged in the projects
Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
PhD in a related field required
Experience working on and publishing refereed papers on problems related to combinatorial optimization and graph algorithms
A combination of education and relevant experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered.
Additional Information:
Sponsorship: Applicants for this position must be currently legally authorized to work for CMU in the United States. CMU will not sponsor or take over the sponsorship of an employment visa for this opportunity. Carnegie Mellon is not a qualifying employer for the STEM OPT benefit: only the 12-month OPT may be used to work at Carnegie Mellon.
Funding: This is a grant-funded position.
Fixed Term: This is a fixed-term position with an estimated duration of 4.5 months.
