JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
The Department of Computer Science and Engineering at The Pennsylvania State University is seeking a motivated Postdoctoral Scholar. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Professor Yana Safonova. Professor Safonova’s research interests are in computational biology and bioinformatics with the focus on developing computational methods for studying antibody repertoires and antibody responses, comparative immunology, evolutionary analysis of adaptive immune systems, and population analyses of immune loci.
The successful candidate will be expected to co-lead research projects with Professor Safonova and mentor graduate research. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, working with graduate students on research projects, presenting research results at conferences, publishing in technical journals, and preparing reports for relevant sponsored research contracts.
Applicants must have a Ph.D. in computer science, computer engineering, or a related field by the start date. The successful candidate for this position should possess programming, algorithmic, and bioinformatics skills, as well as a basic understanding of molecular biology.
This is a term appointment, funded for one year from date of hire, with a possibility of renewal. Applicants should submit a CV with their online application.
