About the Role:
We have an exciting opportunity for a Postdoctoral Fellow to join the Parts Group on a 3 year fixed term contract. Our group joins the new Generative and Synthetic Genomics Programme, and remains linked to the Human Genetics Programme, creating an exciting environment for using engineering at scale to understand the human genome.

You will be responsible for:

  • Planning a research project in collaboration with the team leader that is original and leverages the unique scaling opportunities at the Institute.

  • Leading on or contributing to publications and to present data at lab meetings, national and international conferences

  • Seeking appropriate training including for transferable skills as well as taking part in training organised for Postdoctoral Fellows.


About Us:
Our research seeks to understand the function of Human DNA with support from core pipelines as well as our research specialists. We have specific projects around manipulating DNA in human cells at scale: deleting large chunks of non-coding DNA, inserting large amounts of ectopic DNA, and randomising stretches of existing DNA, all with the aim of informing generative models of human DNA function.

About You:

Your work will help shape future research questions and methodology in the lab. You will have the ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative multi-disciplinary team.

Essential Skills:

  • PhD in Molecular Biology, Bioinformatics, Physics, Engineering or related relevant field

  • Evidence of good productivity through publications

  • Motivation to understand function of DNA in Human Cells

  • Ability to work as part of a team

  • Highly developed problem-solving skills

  • Excellent communication skills as evidenced by presentations

  • Ability to prioritise tasks

  • Demonstrates inclusivity and respect for all

Other Information:

Salary per annum: £35,707- £44,712 (dependent upon skills and experience)
