Base Salary Level A, Step 6, $105,350 p.a. + 17% superannuation
About the opportunity
Established as the first computer science department in Australia, the School of Computer Science (SCS) is research intensive and has a strong tradition of research-led teaching. The School offers undergraduate majors in computer science, information systems, data science and software development within its flagship Bachelor of Advanced Computing degree and combined degree programs with commerce and science. SCS is one of the seven schools in the Faculty of Engineering, which has a strong position within Australia and worldwide.
We are currently seeking to appoint a Postdoctoral Research Associate to contribute to a range of research activities focused on deep learning and its applications in computer vision. In this role you will conduct high-quality research, publish research works in top tier conferences and journals and assist with the supervision of PhD/MPhil students.
Working closely with Dr. Chang Xu, the candidate will focus on developing novel algorithms and theories to boost the efficiency of deep neural networks and explore their computer vision applications.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
contribute to research publications and present findings at relevant conferences and seminars,
assist in teaching and curriculum development for relevant courses related to deep learning,
collaborate in the planning and organization of events, seminars, and workshops related to the research area
participate in the preparation and submission of research grant,
provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members and assist in their research projects.
About you

a PhD (or near completion) in the relevant field of Computer Vision, Pattern Recognition, Machine Learning or Data Mining
demonstrated skills/knowledge/experience in developing innovative deep learning algorithms or prototypes
a proven track record through literature review, qualitative and quantitative research and laboratory methods
demonstrated contributions to publications in top tier conferences and journals (e.g., IEEE T-PAMI, IEEE T-TIP, CVPR, ICCV, ECCV, ICML, NeurIPS, ICLR and ACM SIG-KDD).
