Job Description
This position will work in a chemical laboratory with state-of-the-art organic synthesis, analytical, and computational chemistry instrumentation. The incumbent will also, in part, serve as project manager with duties to include the day-to-day administration of research studies related to our collaborative medicinal chemistry projects; the planning and design of research protocols as well as the training and supervision of group members, including oversight over the electronic notebook system CBIS. The position works on several projects independently, using specialized synthesis and analytical equipment, as well as molecular modeling hard- and software, mainly performing synthetic chemistry preparative and modeling (rational design and planning) procedures. The incumbent will also be responsible for biochemical assays, training new users, and performing routine maintenance of new and existing instrumentation. A Ph.D. and prior postdoctoral experience in organic chemistry, chemical and scientific databases and computer programs, strong written, email, and phone correspondence, grant and scientific publication writing and proposal review are highly preferred. A Doctorate Degree in organic or medicinal chemistry, and at least five years of experience or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience in organic synthesis, computer modeling, docking, protein modeling, or biological assays is required. Needs to write proposal drafts for external agency submissions. Prepares project reports and document drafts for review by the PI (Wipf) independently and represents the PI on specific components of larger program projects.
