Job Description:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Design, perform and analyze experiments to study the structure/function relationships of assigned proteins. Cloning and expression of proteins of interest. Purification of proteins in sufficient quantity to obtain crystals. Crystallization of proteins. Data collection and analysis. Preparation of data presentations and publications. Assist principal investigator with preparation of manuscripts. Assist principal investigator with preparation of grant proposals. Assist with laboratory management of stocks, supplies, and equipment. Other duties as necessary.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Excellent oral, written, and electronic communication skills. Ability to effectively use personal computer to communicate, prepare proposals to include cost information on spreadsheet as applicable, and provide reports of activities. Ability to effectively communicate with faculty and staff. Familiarity with appropriate laboratory and/or technical equipment. Ability to establish effective working relationships.
Minimum Requirements:
Education - PhD in related field of specialization
Experience - Some experience in area of specialization
Supervision Received: Frequent review of work from principal investigator or project leader.
Supervision Given: Supervise support personnel conducting research.

10% - Assist principal investigator with preparation of grant proposals.
10% - Preparation of data for presentations and publications.
5% - Assist with laboratory management of stocks, supplies and equipment.
5% - Other duties as necessary.
