Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:
The College of Engineering contributes to the green nitrogen-based fertilizers and chemicals project through conducting research to develop new electrocatalysts and advanced electrolyzers for the capture and conversion of waste nitrogen feedstock to valuable nitrogen fertilizers and chemicals (focused on urea). Needed research expertise and experiences include a range of wet-chemical and electrochemical techniques for catalyst synthesis, electroanalytical methods, electrochemical cell design, tests of electrocatalyst performances, and modeling of electrochemical devices.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
PhD in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience nitrogen electrocatalysis, ammonia electrosynthesis, electrochemical, CO2 electro-reduction, water splitting, reactor design and scale up.
- Experience evaluating performances of electro-reduction of nitrate/nitrite or CO2 in H-type cell and flow cells.
- Experience in electrochemistry, electrocatalysis, materials synthesis and characterization, and electrochemical tests.
- Experience with heterogeneous catalysis, nanoparticle synthesis, and reactor design.
- Experience in the electrosynthesis of urea from the co-reduction of nitrate and CO2.
