Job Description
The Hatfull lab seeks a Postdoctoral Associate to contribute to investigations of the molecular biology of mycobacteria and their phages. Specific projects might include the functional genomic analysis of mycobacteriophages, physical characterization of mycobacteriophage virions, analysis of DNA packaging systems including in vivo and in vitro packaging, and the investigation of the mechanisms that influence the specificity of host range by mycobacteriophages and related viruses. The successful candidate will have extensive experience with mycobacteria and mycobacteriophages including the use and development of genetic tools for engineering mycobacteria and the mycobacteriophages, as well as experience working under BSLIII containment with Mycobacterium tuberculosis. These studies will be under the direction of Graham Hatfull and will include participation in the general scholarly activities of our research group.
Qualified applicants will have at minimum a PhD in Microbiology, Biology, Molecular Genetics, or related fields.
