Job Description

We invite applications for a postdoctoral position in the Functional Coatings Group in the Applied Materials Division at Argonne National Laboratory to conduct advanced research in thin film coatings.  The successful applicant will play a pivotal role in advancing our research projects applying thin film coating technology to develop 2-dimensional (2D) materials for microelectronics.  In particular, the new hire will use atomic layer deposition (ALD) to grow thin films of 2D transition metal dichalcogenide (2D-TMDC) materials such as MoS2 and evaluate methods to tailor the physical and chemical properties of the 2D-TMDC materials.  These 2D-TMDC materials will be used in advanced microelectronic devices.  Experience in ALD and 2D-TMDC materials is required.  The postdoctoral appointee is expected to aid in the design, analysis, and interpretation of experiments as well as present findings to the community through publications and presentations.
