Job Description Summary
The postdoc research associate is responsible for a project focusing on mechanism and technology of RNA silencing. Specifically, the individual will clone the genes, examine the cellular localizations of proteins, and to study how the cellular trafficking of proteins impacts the RNA silencing efficiency. The final goal of this research is to improve the yield and quality and stress tolerance of crops through engineering RNA silencing pathways, and eventually generate benefits to the U.S, China and others over the world.
Qualifications
Required Education:
Ph.D. in plant biology, or Cell Biology
Required Experience:
Some experience in Cell Biology, familiar with many kinds of confocal experiments.
Preferred Experience:
Extensive experience in Cell Biology, familiar with many kinds of confocal experiments.
Required Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Experience with Arabidopsis.
Self-motivated
Excellent written and oral communication.
Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

**POSITION CONTINGENT ON GRANT FUNDING**
Job Responsibilities
20%: EMS screening, genetic crossing, screening true mutants. Extract DNA and prepare libraries for Illumina sequencing and conduct basic sequencing analysis to pinpoint the causative mutations. Gene Cloning and complementation assays.
40%: Functional analysis of the mutants. determination of epistasis and identify the partners of proteins by yeast--2-hybrid. purify proteins from insect cells and e.coli, conduct protein-protein interaction, protein-RNA interaction. Gel infiltration assays. Confocal microscope, Liquid-liquid phase separation.
20%: RNA-seq, small-RNA sequencing, and small RNA blot, ChIP-seq, western blot among other molecular biology assays.
15%: Read literature, write reports and manuscripts.
5%: Performs other duties as assigned.
