The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law invites applications for a Postdoctoral Fellowship in Law and Computer Science. The fellowship is designed to encourage interdisciplinary scholars interested in entering a career in academia that bridges these fields. The fellow will assist in conducting research at the intersection of law and computer science, specifically in connection with a NSF grant on designing accountable software systems for safety-critical applications such as autonomous vehicles and medical devices. The fellow will be invited to participate in the academic life of the College of Law, and have opportunities to conduct independent research and scholarship working with and under the mentorship of Ohio State law faculty, particularly faculty affiliated with the Program on Data and Governance (PDG). This is a one-year term position that may be extended for a second year based on performance and availability of funds. Applications are invited from law school graduates. Preference will be given to candidates with relevant work experience.

Duties Description:

40%

Support and conduct ongoing research thrusts involving the design of accountable software systems for safety-critical applications.

40%

Formulate and carry out independent research projects that combine elements of law, computer science, and policy; draft, edit, and submit articles for publication in law review journals.

20%

Conduct scholarly and public presentations; attend and engage at faculty workshops and other relevant scholarly events; assist in organizing interdisciplinary law-and-computer-science meetings and symposia.

Education and Experience Requirements:

Required: JD degree or equivalent.

Desired: Experience in a computing field.
