JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
The Lieurance Invasion Science Lab in the Department of Ecosystem Science and Management at The Pennsylvania State University is seeking applicants for a postdoctoral position conducting research related to improving our understanding the invasion risk of non-native species and enhance the way we inform invasive species prevention and management. Primary duties will be assisting in a USGS funded National Horizon Scan of Plants in Trade including completing risk assessments, managing the working group, data analysis, and writing a comprehensive review paper on horizon scanning for invasive species threats.
Additionally, the candidate may pursue research on invasion pathways, risk analysis, impact analysis, the compounding effects of climate change and invasive species, or other topics related to invasion ecology.
Preferred Qualifications:
Expertise and experience in species invasions, statistical modeling, GIS, invasion risk assessment, and/or field ecology. Most importantly, the ideal candidate should demonstrate strong organizational skills, possess the ability to thrive both independently and within a team, and show a keen motivation to acquire new knowledge.
Applicants are required to have a Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate in Biology, Ecology, Biological Invasions, or other related fields and be able to provide evidence that all requirements have been met for completion of the Ph.D. prior to the effective date of hire.
This position will be located at Penn State in University Park, Pennsylvania
