2024 Summer Intern - gRED Early Clinical Development, OMNI Clinical Science (roche)
Job posting number: #85490 (Ref:202401-101260)
This Job Posting is Expired.
Job Description
Department Summary
Genentech’s Research and Early Development (gRED) Early Clinical Development (ECD) organization is responsible for developing and executing early development clinical strategies and plans to provide proof-of-concept data with respect to safety, efficacy, and the utility of biomarkers for gRED new molecular entities.
Working with the Neuroscience group team (Postdoctoral Scientist and Group Medical Director), the intern will support a project focused on Alzheimer’s Disease (AD). In particular, the intern will use a harmonized quantification scale for tau PET data to delineate biological stages of AD.
Pathological tau, as measured by tau PET, is related to cognitive decline in Alzheimer’s disease, and the ability to biologically determine an individual’s disease stage can aid in the study of Alzheimer’s disease and the development of novel therapies. Although measures of tau PET using different PET radiotracers cannot be directly compared, conversion to a harmonized scale (CenTauR) enables comparisons across tracers. This project involves the extraction of CenTauR values from several AD imaging datasets and the conceptualization and implementation of staging methods for AD. Insights from these analyses will contribute to our understanding of Alzheimer’s disease and will inform the use of the harmonized scale in future clinical trials.
This internship position is located in South San Francisco, on site.
