Base Salary Level A $101 p.a. - $112 p.a. + 17% superannuation
About the opportunity
The School of Mathematics and Statistics is one of the largest mathematical sciences schools in Australia, and the University of Sydney is the only Australian university to have received the highest rating of 5 out of 5 for research in the mathematical sciences in every Australian Research Council Excellence in Research for Australia assessment to date. The University also hosts the Sydney Mathematical Research Institute (SMRI), which attracts leading mathematical scientists from all over the world to do research with Australian collaborators.
We are seeking to appoint a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Representation Theory
Your key responsibilities will be to:
demonstrate research excellence in representation theory, algebra, combinatorics or related fields
develop and document algorithms to assist mathematical research and discovery
develop research collaborations
assist with grant writing and the publishing of original work
supervise students at undergraduate and postgraduate levels
contribute to successful applications for competitive research grants and/ or funding to deliver research impact
develop your profile and the profile of SMRI in theabove areas through conferences and seminars.
About you

a PhD (or near completion) in pure mathematics
some experience in computation
experience in supervising or mentoring others and/or coordinating team activities
primary research interests in representation theory, or a related field of pure mathematics
proven research excellence
demonstrated evidence of independent research ability and potential
experience in research record keeping, preparation of research papers and presentation of seminars
demonstrated excellence in written and oral communications skills.
